1) What is bright.net Global
Access Roaming Service?
bright.net Global Access Roaming Service is
a service that gives bright.net subscribers a local dial-in
number to access the Internet when they travel in the United
States or overseas. This is a solution for most traveling
Internet users i.e. finding a local dial-in number to connect to
the Internet when they travel.
When you subscribe to this service, you are
able to connect to the Internet through ISPs in many countries
where bright.net is a business partner. It is no longer necessary
to subscribe to a local ISP just for the sake of being able to
surf the Internet and you can also save on phone bills.
The use of intelligent routing and software
that resides on the participating Internet service providers'
computer system make this roaming service possible.
Basically, the users need to maintain only
one single account with their Internet service provider and when
they travel, they log in with their domain names (e.g.
yourname@bright.net). This is to determine if the domain name is
registered, if so, the login attempt will be automatically
encrypted and sent to the original service provider for security
clearance.
In effect, the user still logs into the
Internet via his own service provider, even though he dials in
through a different provider. He can continue to use his regular
web browser, E-mail program or newsgroup software.
The following are the benefits of using the Global Roaming Access service:-

7) Is there any special
software or configuration I need to know if I want to use the
roaming service?
Yes. Whether you are using Windows 3.1, Windows 95 or a Macintosh
system, you will need to download the appropriate script file.
Please see the instruction on how to configure your dialer. The
script file is used only for those cities with a "1" in
the reference column. For cites with a "-" in the
reference column please follow these instructions - Win3.1, Win95, Mac. View the cities list to
determine which dialing instructions are appropriate. In some
areas, it will be necessary to use IPASS/username@bright.net to avoid password errors.
8) How do I know which dialer to use for the roaming service?
To decide which dialer to use, always refer to the Reference column. If it is marked "1", just click on "Roaming1" in the Dial-up Networking and change the telephone number to the local access number of the city you are in. If it is marked "-", you do not need to use any special configuration, just add "@bright.net" to your login name to indicate that you are a bright.net subscriber. If you are a Business Class subscriber, do not use your own domain name, do the same as above.
9) I have downloaded the IPass
Dialer. Now what do I do?
You must contact your local Customer Service Office to be setup for IPass.
