A Puppet Skit For Ministry

The Storm
Written by Dawn French-Braun
Scripture: Duet. 32:4 "God is the Rock"
Props: Boy and girl puppets

Sound effects--thunder, lightning, rain, TV sounds

Narrator: Jenny and Alex are home alone. Their parents are out for the evening. They are busily watching the TV when they hear a loud noise. They look around the house to see what it is. They see nothing and go back to the TV watching. They hear the noise again and realize what they had heard before was thunder. Paying no attention, they watch their TV program until the lights flicker off and on. Now they know they had better do something fast.

Jenny: (Looks out the window) " Alex! There's a bad storm coming. Look over there at the sky. It is black. Do you think we're having a tornado?"

Alex: " I don't know."

Jenny: "Turn on the radio."

Alex: "Okay, but we had better pray really hard."

Jenny: "I will but I am really scared."

Alex: " You don't need to be scared. Jesus us our helper and if we depend on him to help us when we have problems and are scared, it's like standing on a solid rock. Nothing can knock us down."

Jenny: (voice shaking) "Alright. Lord, please help us. We are only kids and we are scared. A storm is coming. Please keep us safe! Amen."

Alex: " Mom and dad says to go to the basement if there's a bad storm. Come on let's go, fast!"

Narrator: " Jenny and Alex go to the basement where it is safe. They are trembling. They hear the sound of the thunder, lightning, wind and rain as it slams against the sides of the house. It sounds really bad, but in a few minutes the sounds of the howling wind lets up. They go upstairs to look and see what happened."

Jenny: " Wow that was scary! Hey look! The Hamon's house has the roof off and a tree is on Mrs. Lambert's car!"

Alex: "It's a good thing we put our trust in the Lord, because nothing happened to our house."

Jenny: "Yeah, I thought we would be blown away!"

Alex: " That can't happen to us because we put our trust in the Lord. He is the solid foundation when we put our trust in Him. He is the Rock!"

Narrator: " Boys and girls, just as Jenny and Alex put their trust in the Lord to keep them safe in their home, we need to let God be our solid foundation in our spiritual lives. When we have the storms of life come against us, such as sickness, people hurting us, or stuff like that, we can stand on God's promise to keep us safe. Even in the midst of a storm. GOD IS THE ROCK!"
