THE WISDOM OF GOD
Got Wisdom?
There are people today that are looking for wisdom. They want truth, but look in all the wrong places. God’s Word is the Truth. There is no other truth in the world today. It is only the Word of God that endures forever. Long after we are gone, the Word of God will continue on. The Word of God is Wisdom. Wisdom is the principle thing.
Proverbs 4:7 “ Wisdom is the principle thing, therefore get wisdom and with they getting, get understanding.”
“ A man may learn and gather information and truth, but it is not until this truth is put into action on a practical level that it becomes wisdom. This is true in the spiritual sense as well as in all other areas.” (C. W. Turner) 1
God loves us so much that He desires not only to be wisdom to us, but also to be that wisdom in us. He desires for us to have the same wisdom that He has in all the areas of our lives and to understand it.
We must begin with the Fear of the Lord.
We must begin with knowing God. Many people say they know God. It is not a heart knowledge but instead a “head knowledge”. They know about God, have heard of Him, read about Him, studied about Him, but have never had a relationship with Him. God’s desire is to have relationship. Some people’s knowledge of God is like this: Say a person was hit on the head with a hammer. He went to another person and said to him, “ Today I was hit on the head with a hammer”. Then the man who was hit on the head told another man. The other man told someone else that the first man had been hit on the head with the hammer and he told another person and so on. The only person who actually knew about how it feels to be hit on the head with a hammer is the original person that got hit. He knew the pain of being hit and how long it took to heal that pain. That is the way it is with some people and what they know about God. Someone told them and they believed it. There was never a personal relationship. They don’t really know who God is at all.
Hosea 6:6 “ I don’t want your sacrifice, I want your love; I don’t want your offerings, I want you to know me.”
Even the Apostle Paul said in Philippians 3:10 that his ” determined purpose was to become more deeply and intimately, aquatinted with Him, to know and recognize and understand (the wonders of His person) more clearly…”
Knowledge Dream
In January 31, 1993 I had a dream. In the dream the Lord spoke
to me and said,
“ My people parish for a lack of knowledge. The lack of
knowledge they have is that they do not understand who I am, or my personality. Tell my
people I want them to know me and understand who I am and my personality. My personality
is ‘I AM THAT I AM.” (Hosea 4:6, Exodus 3:14)
Then I had a night vision 3 days later on February 3, 1993. In this vision I saw myself standing in front of a large white sheet. On this white sheet were big, black dots. They were 3 rows of 3. I examined them but did not understand what it said. I then turned my head to the left. I saw nothing but white. I then looked back at the sheet, and saw JOHN 3:16 in large black letters every place I had seen a dot (9 times).
I also had another dream in August of 1998. I dreamed that I was going into the local grocery store. As I walked by the newspaper stand outside I noticed that the headlines on the newspaper headline read, “I AM THAT I AM” in large black letters across the top. God wants everyone to know that He exists and of His redeeming power of His Son Jesus.
These were scriptural prophetic dreams.
“I AM THAT I AM” implies that God is everything you will ever need. He is all in all. You do not have to look for another. He is it. Don’t look for anyone else. JOHN 3:16 implies that everything that God is, is wrapped up in Jesus Christ. That is truth. There is no other. He is God.
Proverbs 1:7 “ The fear of the Lord is the beginning of Knowledge.”
Proverbs 8: 13-21 “ The fear of the Lord is to hate evil, pride, and arrogance and the evil way, and the forward way do I hate. Counsel is mine, and sound wisdom. I am understanding. I have strength.”
Knowledge and wisdom are 2 different things:
1. Knowledge is: “taking in the Word of God and the accumulation of facts.”
2. Wisdom is: “putting out the Word of God and the correct application of those facts.”
Let’s say that someone wanted a peanut butter and jelly sandwich. They got all the stuff out to make the sandwich. They took the bread and laid it on the table and just sat there and looked at it. They have everything they need. They could confess for 10 years that they had that peanut butter and jelly sandwich but until they actually took the knife and spread it on the bread it wouldn’t actually be true. That is what some people do with God’s Word. Taking the Bible to church and listening to the sermon will not make you any wiser than when you stepped in the door. You have to apply it to your life. You cannot be a hearer only but you have to be a doer to be successful in the Kingdom of God.
Matthew 7:26 …“Everyone that hearth these sayings of mine, and doeth them not, shall be likened to a foolish man, which built his house upon the sand..”
James 1:22 “ But be ye doers of the Word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves.”
“Knowledge and wisdom both begin by reverencing the Word of God. If you want to be knowledgeable, study God’s Word. If you want to be wise, apply God’s Word. If you do both of these two things, you will be successful in all areas of your life.” (Bob Yandian) 2.
We must have a love for the Word of God. So much that it takes first place in your life. Jesus Christ is the Word. When you have Jesus inside, you have the Living Word inside of you. When you apply it becomes wisdom. The deeper knowledge you have of Christ and the Word, the more wisdom you will have if applied correctly.
Dreams of Wisdom:
When I first accepted Christ, I had a series of dreams. The
dreams were the same, but were in different locations. This is the dream:
I dreamed I was walking along an alley, a sidewalk or a freeway. As I walked along, I would notice something shiny out of the corner of my eye. Being the curious person that I am, I would go to investigate what the shiny thing was. Every time without exception, I would see silver coins lying on the ground. Without exception, every time, there were silver dollars, fifty-cent pieces, quarters dimes and nickels. There would be no paper money, only silver. In every dream, without exception, I would only pick up the larger denominations, the silver dollars, fifty-cent pieces and the quarters. I would never pick up the dimes or the nickels. I would let them lay. The more I dug into the ground to get the money the more would appear. I would fill my pockets, bags, shirt, pants, anything I could get with these silver coins. When I would leave there would be plenty of coins left over. I would always feel guilty of taking all these coins. One time I had my children come and they brought trash bags and filled them up with the coins. We took as much as we could. When I would awaken, I always felt guilty because I thought I was money hungry or something. But that is not what the dream was about. The Lord didn’t show me until one day, I was reading in the book of Proverbs and came across the scriptures in Chapter 2:1-6.
Wisdom has to be searched for.
Why is wisdom important?
Prov. 8:25 “For whoever finds me (wisdom) finds life and shall draw forth and obtain favor of the Lord. But he who misses me or sins against me, wrongs and injures himself; all who hate me love and court death.”
This is powerful scripture. Without wisdom, we have nothing. We are nothing. Jesus told us that. Without Him we are nothing; a big fat “O”. Jesus is wisdom,
Isa. 11:3 “ And the spirit of the Lord shall rest upon Him, the spirit of wisdom and understanding, the spirit of counsel and might, the spirit of knowledge and the reverential and obedient fear of the Lord.
These are called the 7 Fold-Spirits of God:
1.The spirit of the Lord
2.The spirit of Wisdom
3.The spirit of Understanding
4.The spirit of Counsel
5. The spirit of Might
6.The spirit of Knowledge
7.The fear of the Lord
1 Corinthians 1;30 “ Jesus is made wisdom to us…”
Col. 2:23 “ All the treasures of wisdom and knowledge are hid in Christ.”
The Word of God tells us that there are people searching today that are always seeking truth but never coming to any understanding of it. They think they have the answers by having big college degrees, great knowledge of worldly kingdoms or by associating themselves with the elite. However without the knowledge and wisdom that God has to offer, we are void of understanding.
“ If a man is to find truth and knowledge, he must begin with God.” (Charles W. Turner)
We must trust God 100%. We must be committed to Him and to His Word. His Word is our instruction book. Wisdom is the principle of our school of knowledge and instruction.
Proverbs 3:5-6 “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not to your own understanding. Acknowledge Him in all your ways and He will direct your paths.”
Psalms 119:105 “ Thy Word is a lamp unto my feet and a light unto my path.”
The Word of God puts the flashlight on when it is dark. He lights up the path for us when we cannot find our way. He uses His Word to check out every flaw and imperfection that stands in our way.
Wisdom is not a thing it is a person. When we accept Christ as the Lord over our lives, we then began to receive the wisdom of God. He sets up residence in us and begins to build a building for Himself. We are God’s House. We can either build a wise house or a foolish house. (1 Corinthians 3:1) The choice is up to us.

Proverbs 24:3 “Through wisdom a house is builded.”
Ephesians 2:19-22
We are living stones. (1 Peter 2:3) We are building a holy habitation and sanctuary for the Lord Jesus to live in, by studying and meditating on the Word of God, obtaining knowledge, instruction and understanding, our house is being established. Jesus Christ is the Chief Cornerstone and our foundation.
What if one day you contract a man to build your house on a beautiful hill over looking the ocean? You give him the blueprints and tell him exactly how you want it built. You put you trust totally in this man and his business. Then one day he comes to you and says, “Sir, I have your house finished and you can move in.“ You pay him the money, and move your family into the new house. You never bothered to find out if he did what you wanted him to do. A few days later it begins to rain for days. Now your house is sliding down the hill towards a cliff and about to go into the ocean. What will you do? The truth is your house and family will be in the ocean if you do not get out. You just wasted thousands of dollars and you are homeless as well. That was unwise. That is the way some people treat God’s house. The house has fallen in. God is homeless.
If we neglect to know the Lord and reject His knowledge then the ultimate result is destruction. There is a formula: “ Your rejection of God and His ways + God’s rejection of you and your ways = destruction.”
Matthew 7:21-24 “ Not everyone who says to me, Lord, Lord, will enter into the Kingdom of Heaven, but he who does the will of my Father, who is in heaven. Many will say to me on that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in your name and driven out demons in your name, and done many mighty works in your name? And then I will say to them, openly, publicly, I never knew you; depart from, you who act wickedly -----disregarding my commandments.”
“ We are to know God, to know the truth and even to know ourselves. Ignorance is the other face of knowledge, the negative side…darkness is the absence of light so ignorance is the absence of truth and knowledge.” (C. W. Turner)
“The fool has said in his heart, there is no God.”
“ The children of God are always in a “ building program” because the edifice of wisdom is never completed. The building goes on growing forever and ever, each succeeding generation adding to it by passing on “ that which it also received.” 1 Corinthians 15:3--(Bob Yandian)
