The symbol ><> by itself is the symbol for fish which is used to mean Jesus Christ, Son of God, Savior. There are many ways to make the fish symbol, such as ><((((>, ><))))>, ><{{{{*>; and on the list could go.

In Greek, the language the New Testament Bible was given in, the word for fish is spelled in five Greek alphabet letters, I am told. The five letters of that Greek word for fish resemble the English alphabet letters, I, X, O, Y, E. So I put the letters IXOYE in the fish symbol ><>, and have ><IXOYE>.

The first letter, in Greek, that looks like the English "I" is the first letter for the Greek word for "Jesus."

The second letter, in Greek, that looks like the English "X" is the first letter for the Greek word for "Christ."

The third letter, in Greek, that looks like the English "O" is the first letter for the Greek word for "God."

The forth letter, in Greek, that looks like the English "Y" is the first letter for the Greek word for "Son."

The fifth letter, in Greek, that looks like the English "E" is the first letter of the Greek word for "Savior."

So the rebus IXOYE stands for "Jesus Christ, Son of God, Savior." So when I put the IXOYE in the ><> I am really saying two times, Jesus Christ, Son of God, Savior.

The fish symbol has been used by Christians and is very ancient. However you present it, it means the same thing, Jesus Christ, Son of God, Savior.

Not being able to type in Greek, the English letters that look similar to the Greek letters are often used to show this in symbol form. Either the fish symbol by itself, or the IXOYE by itself is used to mean the same thing.

><IXOYE>
