By God's grace, still presenting the same old message from the same old Book...

The New Birth Is All Of God

The grace of God actually brings salvation to the sheep, and does not merely try to bring salvation. I am a sovereign grace Baptist, finding that salvation is wholly of God’s grace, His working repentance and faith in us. I believe in the total depravity of man (Isa 53:2-3; Rom 3:10-18; Mark 7:21; Deut 29:18; Rom 7:5, 24; 8:6-8; Eph 2:1, 5; Col 2:13), their natural position being dead in trespasses and sins, being at enmity towards the things of God and toward God Himself; unconditional election (Matt 11:27; Acts 13:48; Rom 8:28-30; 9:11-13,16,18-24; 1Cor 1:27-29; Eph 1:4-5; Phil 1:29; 1Thess 1:4-5; 5:9; 2Thess 2:13; 2Tim 1:9; Tit 1:1; James 2:5; Rev 13:8; 17:8,14; Job 42:1-2; Ps 65:4; 106:5; 115:3; 135:6; Isa 14:24,27; 55:11; Dan 4:35; 22:14); particular redemption, Christ died for the sheep, His own people, and not the goats (Ps 111:9; Isa 53:5,6,8,11,12; Matt 1:21; 20:28; 26:28; John 10:14-16; 17:9; Eph 1:4-7; Rom 8:29-30; Gal 1:4; 3:13; Tit 2:14; Heb 9:12-14; 10:14-15; 1John 4:10; Rev 5:9-10); effectual calling whereby the sheep hear His voice, know Him and follow Him, their certainly coming, being drawn to Christ (John 6:39-40,44,45); and perseverance of the saints (Phil 1:6; Rom 8:29-30; 1Pet 1:5; John 6:37; Jer 31:3; Heb 13:8).

The new birth results in faith and repentance, and as such a person is saved eternally. The new birth is all of God, and is said to be of God's will and not man's will (John 1:13; Eph 2:1-5, 8-9; Rom 9:11, 16, 18, 21; Tit 3:5, 7). When a person is born of God (John 4:24; Tit 3:5), their will is made new so they will to do good, yet wait for the redemption of the body when we will be completely free of the presence of sin (Rom 7:18, 21-24; 8:23). Having the first fruits of the Spirit means to have repented and believed in Christ, and as such the Spirit dwells within (Rom 8:9), and as such one possesses eternal life (John 3:15; 10:28; 17:3; Tit 3:7; 1John 5:11-13).

Salvation is not the result of man’s action, and receiving the Spirit is not a result of any act of righteousness one might submit to (Matt 3:13-15; Tit 3:5).

A message of comfort from the Scriptures,
that we through patience and comfort
of the scriptures might have hope.

Come and hear, all ye that fear God,
and I will declare what he hath done for my soul.
Psalms 66:16
