Dealing with the topic of Equal Rights or Privileges Under the Law of Christ Jesus, there are Equal Rights because One is your Master, even Christ; and all ye are brethren (Matt.23:8).

Here are some ways Believers have Equal Rights or Privileges Under the Law of Christ Jesus: a) Saved from sin, “If the Son, therefore, shall make you free, ye shall be free indeed” (John 8:36); b) Called children of God, “For ye are all the children of God by faith in Jesus Christ. There is neither bond nor free, there is neither male nor female; for ye are all one in Christ Jesus” (Gal.3:26,28); c) Each member shares in the duty of behaving right, and dealing with those that do not behave right, “Submitting yourselves (let the Bible guide your conscience) one to another in the fear of God” (Matt.18:15-17; Eph.5:21; 1Pet.2:14).

Pride is a sin where men want to have power over others. But under the Perfect Law of Liberty (James 1:25) that sin is to be confessed and forsaken. Jesus said: “Whosoever will be great among you, let him be your minister; and whosoever will be chief among you, let him be your servant: Even as the Son of man came not to be ministered unto, but to minister, and to give his life a ransom for many” (Matt.20:26-28).

There are rules of behavior for the church (1Tim.3:15). Brethren are told: “Obey them that have the rule over you (who have spoken unto you the Word of God), and submit yourselves: for they watch for your souls, as they that must give account, that they may do it with joy, and not with grief: for that is unprofitable for you” (Heb.13:7,17). The Bible is our common Book.

The elders, also called pastors, appointed by the churches, have rules. They are to: “Preach the Word” (2Tim.4:2). They are to rule by advice and example, watching over the churches “neither as being lords over God’s heritage, but being ensamples to the flock” (1Pet.5:1-3).

The pastor has authority to rule. He answers to God -being responsible for, and to the brethren he is appointed over. He is perfectly free to act in accordance with his own views of duty and his own convictions of right, with the rest of the brethren, according to their mutual understanding of Scripture (Amos 3:3).

The purpose of ministry is not to give opportunity for showing-off, nor the pulpit for all with supposed gifts their time to have the first say, the longest say, and the loudest say. A church needs an appointed, Divinely qualified leader (Pr.16:18; 27:2; Mic.3:8; Matt.7:29; Luke 14:11; 1Cor. 13:4; 2Cor.4:2; 10:5,8; Gal.5:26; Eph.4:29; Phil.2:3; 1Tim.5: 17; Tit.2:15; 1Pet.4:11; 3 John 9).

Even the apostles claimed only to be servants, for Paul said: “We preach not ourselves, but Christ Jesus, the Lord; and ourselves your servants for Jesus’ sake” (2Cor.4:5).

Paul also said: “Know them which labour among you, and are over you in the Lord, and admonish you; And esteem them very highly in love for their works sake. And be at peace among yourselves (1Thess.5:12-13; 1Tim.5: 17; Gal.6:6).

The Scriptures make it clear that we are to be like-minded, having the same love, being of one accord, of one mind (John 17:21-23; Rom.12:16; Phil.2:2; 1Pet.3:8). There are Equal Rights or Privileges Under the Law of Christ Jesus (Matt.23:8).
