Reaching forth...
By God's grace, still presenting the same old message from the same old Book...
Expectations
Among the people of God, there have been those that have given testimony they came to faith while they were actually trying to prove the bible false. Now in these days it is not unusual to find some using all sorts of mental gymnastics, seemingly twisting their words pretzel shaped to define the meaning of true to explain what is meant when they say something is true. Other of the people of God have publicly challenged any to find an error in the bible. But now, now, it is popular to make much fuss and cries claiming those are ignorant, heretical and cultic that would say they are sure what their bible says is true, that their bible is wholly inerrant and infallible, the inspired word of God.
Have any offered proof positive for the existence of God? Have any offered proof positive certain words are the words of God? Such matters ultimately belong in the realm of the heart, and not the vain imagination.
Psalms 12:6 The words of the LORD are pure words: as silver tried in a furnace of earth, purified seven times. KJB
Proverbs 30:5 Every word of God is pure: he is a shield unto them that put their trust in him. KJB
What would the people of God do without those coming around that have as their purpose to tear down and cast doubt? Do those that claim there is no pure words: as silver tried in a furnace of earth, purified seven times, wholly inerrant and infallible, the inspired word of God, and that we can look upon, have any purpose but to cast doubt and to tear down? Have they any landmark, aside from their vain imaginations and wicked inventions? These as wandering stars go to and fro saying, Yea, hath God said. . .
They are especially perplexed and chagrined at those that decisively proclaim, “Thus saith the LORD. . .”
There are heady high-minded persons that would scoff and cast derision at any that do not laud the supposed excellence of persons that claim to offer reasoned and well studied answers to their positions.
For myself, I’ll continue to proclaim the KJB text as wholly the word of God, and I’ll not suggest to any that it is false, and I’ll not be shaken by the fact there are other readings that differ in meaning, doctrine and theology. While others of faith have differed about the readings that are the true received words, within charitable limits, I will not use that as reason to think they are not of the faith once delivered. There is a proliferation of English versions, and not one of them agrees wholly with the text of the KJB; as well all the different English versions differ in meaning, doctrine and theology with each other.
Philippians 4:8 Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things. KJB
While I proclaim the words of the KJB, I’ll continue to explain doctrines as I understand them. There are any number of various doctrines that come to mind, that when spoken of, invoke wrathful words and mocking from certain persons. Be sure, others are allowed their part, and I must hold my part based on my understanding.
Recently a dear saint wrote to tell me they were the person that had their challenge answered publicly in an article written by another person, titled, “More About Mel Gibson’s Movie.” I disagreed with that person as they defended the movie, seeing their challenge as being misdirected. But how did I answer the person I disagreed with? Actually I answered them gently. That is not always the case with me, for different times require different answers. I reminded them of Christian liberty, and reminded them they ought to be happy they do not require my approval for the things they understand and believe. They are able to be right without the preponderance of people agreeing with them, indeed, they need no people to agree with them. And neither do I. As well, if a person is wrong, they are wrong before God and answer to God for the things they understand and believe.
I hope to help people understand things correctly, but it is God that opens the understanding. I’m not here to throw stones at others. It might be they have a better aim and a sharp pointed stone to return were we to resort to such things. Christian liberty is not to make it right for a person to be wrong. But sometimes our understanding is lacking. We answer for ourselves to God. Christian liberty is not for demanding we give audience to those of different understanding, and liberty is not for demanding all understanding is alike equal. It simply means we answer for ourselves to God alone. It is not for us to lord over others.
Here are a few links that deal with the matter of Christian liberty:
My expectation is not that all will agree with what I write. It has been said, “Every born again believer should be ready to have his theological views judged by Scripture without taking personal affront.” I’m not saying we must explain ourselves to any that approach us for the purpose of showing their disagreement. Further, we are sanctified by exposure to truth, not by analysis of error, or the prodding’s of certain persons, as some imagine.
John 17:17 Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth. KJB
Those having disagreement ought not think they should force their views or advance an air of supposed superiority over any that have different understandings. Some poor souls boast (as they imagine) of not having hypocrisy, while all along they display arrogance while boasting of their scholarly held positions, seemingly placing them over heaven and pompously above men of differing understanding or stations in life. But mark this, it is God that opens the understanding (Ps 119:18). Where is boasting?
To contend for doctrine in a manner which ignores this truth leads to strife. Will you strive with God and imagine you alone are the harbour and channel of truth every time you come across a person of different understanding? Do you imagine if you say something a certain way, that those of different understanding will be shaken and look on you with awe? In my pilgrimage I have found some, that as I perceived their doctrine, twisted their words about and through their analysis of doctrine emphasized some points beyond understanding while ignoring the plain teaching of the Scripture passage they thought to use to support their doctrine. An intense person straining at a gnat in a vat of cool drink comes to mind as I hear some men present their words.
Matthew 23:24 Ye blind guides, which strain at a gnat, and swallow a camel. KJB
Psalms 119:18 Open thou mine eyes, that I may behold wondrous things out of thy law. KJB
Romans 14:16 Let not then your good be evil spoken of: KJB
2 Timothy 2:14 Of these things put them in remembrance, charging them before the Lord that they strive not about words to no profit, but to the subverting of the hearers. KJB
I hope these approximately twelve hundred words are found helpful.

A message of comfort from the Scriptures,
that we through patience and comfort
of the scriptures might have hope.
Come and hear, all ye that
fear God,
and I will declare what he hath done for my soul.
Psalms 66:16
