By God's grace, still presenting the same old message from the same old Book...

As I understand the Scriptures, the Lord does not simply attempt to save His people, He actually does save them (Matt 1:21). Faith, our believing, is a gift of God (John 1:13; 6:28-29; Acts 13:48; 18:27; Rom 3:22; 9:16, 18, 22; 10:17; 12:3; Gal 2:16,20; 5:22; Eph 1:19; 2:8; Phil 1:29; Heb 12:2; Tit 3:5), faith a fruit of the Spirit wrought in man by the operation of God. There is no such faith, unless a man is first born again, of the Spirit of God. First, one must be born again, then they have faith. There is no fruit of the Spirit apart from the Spirit. As it is written, But ye are not in the flesh, but in the Spirit, if so be that the Spirit of God dwell in you. Now if any man have not the Spirit of Christ, he is none of his. And if Christ be in you, the body is dead because of sin; but the Spirit is life because of righteousness.

There must be a work by the Holy Spirit. Faith is fruit of the Spirit. There are those that like to say their faith is not of the Spirit but is their own natural faith. They may insist, but it seems they are going by some other way, not that shown in the Scriptures, based on what I am seeing, for salvation is of the Lord (Gal 5:22; Col 2:12; Phil 1:29; John 1:13).

It is no proficiency test score that gives me a clear conscience and confidence before God. Christ died for my sins. I believe that, have faith, because of the work of the Holy Spirit. That is accompanied by confirmation from the Scripture. With that, I know my election, and am able to understand Eph 1:4 and am aware of my election (1Thess 1:4; Eph 1:4; 2Tim 1:9; 2Pet 1:10).

You must be born again to be saved. The Holy Ghost draws one to Christ, at the Father's command. There is where the faith comes from, by the operation of God, for it is given in the behalf of Christ.

John 6:44 No man can come to me, except the Father which hath sent me draw him: and I will raise him up at the last day.

Philippians 1:29 For unto you it is given in the behalf of Christ, not only to believe on him, but also to suffer for his sake;

There is a faith that is natural to man and all have such faith, then there is the faith once delivered and not all have that faith (2Thess 3:2; Joh 5:38; 6:36,64; 10:26), faith of the divine operation of God whereby we believe.

Acts 16:31 And they said, Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved, and thy house.

Love so amazing, grace divine, that God would save a sinner such as I, and also a multitude that no man could number.

Having ones desires match God's will is certainly not natural to man (Isa 55:8).

This faith is divine, a gift from God (Joh 6:29; Eph 2:8; Phil 1:29). There is nothing of man that will overcome this world.

1 John 5:4 For whatsoever is born of God overcometh the world: and this is the victory that overcometh the world, even our faith.

Ephesians 2:8 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:

Faith Of The Divine Operation Of God

Some seem to think the Lord did not love them any differently than He loved the one that is eternally lost, and that the Lord shed His blood for them no different than He did for the one that is eternally lost, and that the Holy Spirit deals with them no differently than He does with the one that is eternally lost, and that their faith is the same as the one eternally lost, except for the object of the faith. But why the difference in faith? What then, are some better than others that are not saved? What is different that one is saved and another is not? Is one saved because of their family, because of themselves, or because of other men that wanted them saved?

John 1:13 Which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.

I contend, the Father has chosen those before the foundation of the earth that were to be saved, the Son died for those the Father gave Him (John 10:11 ... the good shepherd giveth his life for the sheep) and they shall surely be saved, the Holy Ghost regenerates those the Son shed His blood for.

I conclude faith is different with the one that is saved.

I thank God for saving me, and realize very well, I am not better than any other, and that as a believer, I have reason for being compassionate regarding others. Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners. I was thirty-two years old when I came to faith, and was not worthy of the grace of God that brought salvation to me. I find no reason for looking down on another as if they could not be changed by God’s grace. That gives me reason to tell others of the Lord’s salvation. Grace brings precious faith, and the gospel bring salvation to light, that we can see and know God’s grace. There is comfort of the Scriptures that we might have hope (Rom 15:4).

Without Faith It Is Impossible To Please God

Hebrews 11:6 But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.

There is merit in knowing things about salvation, but know things does not cause salvation. Salvation is of the Lord, and not of man. God does indeed reward those that diligently seek Him, but as Scripture teaches, natural man will not seek Him. There is a work of the Holy Ghost required, a divine work. Our intellect is not a factor in this salvation, but there is comfort by knowing something of these things. Two examples, one, John Baptist in the womb jumped for joy at the prescience of His Lord. Such joy is fruit of the Spirit. He was saved, yet as he lived and ministered he had much to learn. The infant son of David seems to have been saved, as David was saved, a man after God's own heart, and somehow it seems David knew he would see the child in glory.

There is not a location that we travel to, but there is believing, a coming to God by faith. Before we would come we must believe, and our believing is of the operation of God, the Holy Spirit working immediately on our soul, Christ in us, effectually communicating to us that we would come.

It is of the operation of the Holy Ghost that we believe, and then as believers, we are sealed, our having the earnest of the Spirit. When God starts something He finishes it. By His work we have faith, believe, then as we believe we are sealed, forever in His hand, having the witness within, and one day we will see Him face to face.

2 Corinthians 1:22 Who hath also sealed us, and given the earnest of the Spirit in our hearts.

2 Corinthians 5:5 Now he that hath wrought us for the selfsame thing is God, who also hath given unto us the earnest of the Spirit.

Ephesians 1:13 In whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise,
14 Which is the earnest of our inheritance until the redemption of the purchased possession, unto the praise of his glory.

There is comfort in learning from the Bible. Hearing the gospel brings our so great salvation to light, that we would better understand.

Romans 15:4 For whatsoever things were written aforetime were written for our learning, that we through patience and comfort of the scriptures might have hope.

2 Timothy 1:10 But is now made manifest by the appearing of our Saviour Jesus Christ, who hath abolished death, and hath brought life and immortality to light through the gospel:

IMO, One can be saved, but very wrong about some doctrine, even having some false hopes, but yet still be saved. Such lack of understanding demonstrates very little of faith, and might offer very little joy or hope, but even so one believer is not more saved than another. As students, we have much to learn and ought to be open to follow on to better know the Lord. It is natural tendency to argue and holds one position, or to insist another is wrong and even attempt to persuade them against their own mind. It ought to be realized, we have not all come in the unity of the faith, while at the same time we ought not allow ourselves to be tossed about by others. These things apply to me, as well as any that will hear.

Confidence is gained, IMO, realizing it is Christ that has begun a good work, and it is Christ that will finish that work.

Faith Is The Victory

Words: John H. Yates, 1891
Music: Ira D. Sankey

Encamped along the hills of light,
Ye Christian soldiers, rise.
And press the battle ere the night
Shall veil the glowing skies.
Against the foe in vales below
Let all our strength be hurled.
Faith is the victory, we know,
That overcomes the world.

Faith is the victory! Faith is the victory!
O glorious victory, that overcomes the world.

His banner over us is love,
Our sword the Word of God.
We tread the road the saints above
With shouts of triumph trod.
By faith, they like a whirlwind’s breath,
Swept on o’er every field.
The faith by which they conquered death
Is still our shining shield.

Faith is the victory! Faith is the victory!
O glorious victory, that overcomes the world.

On every hand the foe we find
Drawn up in dread array.
Let tents of ease be left behind,
And onward to the fray.
Salvation’s helmet on each head,
With truth all girt about,
The earth shall tremble ’neath our tread,
And echo with our shout.

Faith is the victory! Faith is the victory!
O glorious victory, that overcomes the world.

To him that overcomes the foe,
White raiment shall be giv’n.
Before the angels he shall know
His name confessed in Heav’n.
Then onward from the hill of light,
Our hearts with love aflame,
We’ll vanquish all the hosts of night,
In Jesus’ conqu’ring Name.

Faith is the victory! Faith is the victory!
O glorious victory, that overcomes the world.

A message of comfort from the Scriptures,
that we through patience and comfort
of the scriptures might have hope.

Come and hear, all ye that fear God,
and I will declare what he hath done for my soul.
