The Word If

By God's grace, still presenting the same old message from the same old Book...
The Word If
I was wondrously and gloriously saved in January 1979, finding myself washed in the Precious Blood of the Lamb. My life is not now what it was, and is not yet what it shall be, but I know when He shall appear, we may have confidence, and not be ashamed before Him at His Coming, and it does not yet appear what we shall be: but we know that when He shall appear, we shall be like Him, for we shall see Him as He is.
I started off my pilgrimage after having been convinced that there was nothing I could do of myself to gain salvation, and those clear passages that confirm it is of the Lord if one is to be saved or not were understandable enough to me, very clear to me, and with this I discovered there is a direct involvement of the Holy Spirit, a drawing to Christ. Throughout my walk I have not excluded those that have not learned the same as I have understood, for I believe the Lord teaches as He will (Ps 25:12), revealing one thing but not another. All must be taught of the Lord, for that which is flesh is flesh and that which is spirit is spirit. Those that were not of the sovereign grace understanding, as I saw, nevertheless sometimes manifested evidence of the new life, not to imply my light always shines brightly. As a caveat, I do distance myself from what is seen as easy believism, and the abuses of the invitation system.
If you are saved, you can know you are saved, and in such a case the word "IF" can often be thought of as meaning "since" and is not something with doubt but is a certain thing. Those born again, born of God, are kept by the power of God.
If ye continue. . .
If we hold fast. . .
If any man will come after me. . .
If any man have ears to hear. . .John 8:31 (KJV) Then said Jesus to those Jews which believed on him, If ye continue in my word, then are ye my disciples indeed;
Hebrews 3:6 (KJV) But Christ as a son over his own house; whose house are we, if we hold fast the confidence and the rejoicing of the hope firm unto the end.
Matthew 16:24 (KJV) Then said Jesus unto his disciples, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me.
Mark 4:23; 7:16 (KJV) If any man have ears to hear, let him hear.
John 16:31 (KJV) Jesus answered them, Do ye now believe?
Ref: John 16:28-31
The believer discovers a godly boldness and confidence, assurance, as they continue in the things of God. The word if, in any language, is able to convey assurance to the child of God.
2 Peter 3:18 (KJV) But grow in grace, and in the knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. To him be glory both now and for ever. Amen.
Ref: 2Pet 3:11-18
Of the unbelievers, that do not embrace and continue in the things of God, it is said, they have no fear of God.
Romans 3:18 (KJV) There is no fear of God before their eyes.
Ref: Rom 3.9-18
Why do you suppose one has that fear, and the other does not? Would it be their Creator has made the difference?
Some hear, but unless the words are mixed with faith, their is no profit.
Exodus 5:2 (KJV) And Pharaoh said, Who is the LORD, that I should obey his voice to let Israel go? I know not the LORD, neither will I let Israel go.
Hebrews 4:2 (KJV) For unto us was the gospel preached, as well as unto them: but the word preached did not profit them, not being mixed with faith in them that heard it.
Ref: Heb 4.1-16
If I tell you. . .
Luke 22:67 (KJV) Art thou the Christ? tell us. And he said unto them, If I tell you, ye will not believe:
Ref: Luke 22:63-71
Why does one know the Lord, and another does not? Why does one have faith, and another does not? Why does one believe, and another does not? Why does one draw back, depart, and another does not?
Romans 9:17 (KJV) For the scripture saith unto Pharaoh, Even for this same purpose have I raised thee up, that I might shew my power in thee, and that my name might be declared throughout all the earth.
Romans 9:21 (KJV) Hath not the potter power over the clay, of the same lump to make one vessel unto honour, and another unto dishonour?
Ref: Rom 9.15-21
Jesus Shall Save His People From Their Sins.

A message of comfort from the Scriptures,
that we through patience and comfort
of the scriptures might have hope.
Come and hear, all ye that
fear God,
and I will declare what he hath done for my soul.
Psalms 66:16
