Jesus Saves
[ Bottom of Page ] [ Words to the hymn, Marching To Zion ]
Christ Died For Our Sins
Reaching forth...
Jesus saves. Precious words.
An important question is, how shall men come to Jesus? By the working of man, it is impossible. The flesh profits nothing, as it is the Spirit that quickens. Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners.
Hebrews 11:6
6 But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.
Those to be saved shall believe, for whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved. All have sinned and come short of the glory of God. All that do not believe are condemned already. Yet God in His great mercy has gone about to save sinful men. Whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved. Salvation is of the Lord.
Jonah 2:9
9 But I will sacrifice unto thee with the voice of thanksgiving; I will pay that that I have vowed. Salvation is of the LORD.
Whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.
The believer is begotten by the Word, for faith comes by hearing.
Romans 10:17
17 So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.But haven't all heard?
Romans 10:18
18 But I say, Have they not heard? Yes verily, their sound went into all the earth, and their words unto the ends of the world.The Word preached does not profit all, not being mixed with faith. But, whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved. Sinner why will you perish? Believe the gospel.
Hebrews 4:2
2 For unto us was the gospel preached, as well as unto them: but the word preached did not profit them, not being mixed with faith in them that heard it.
The Scriptures tell us, He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God (John 3:18).
Ephesians 2:8
8 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:
By faith believers come to Christ, and receive the promise of life everlasting. There is no boasting with this, and one may not say they are better than another, and none may say human merit is needed. What then, is to be thought of those that say man is to obey commands to be saved, except that they are better than others. No, it is not of mans obedience to commands, but it is Christ that died for our sins. He has purchased salvation for His people. There is no boasting of man and his obedience, for salvation is all of the Lord. Jesus saves.
Acts 13:48
48 And when the Gentiles heard this, they were glad, and glorified the word of the Lord: and as many as were ordained to eternal life believed.
Salvation is of the Lord.
The believer should not allow their minds to be corrupted by those presenting a false message.
2 Corinthians 11:3-6
3 But I fear, lest by any means, as the serpent beguiled Eve through his subtilty, so your minds should be corrupted from the simplicity that is in Christ.
4 For if he that cometh preacheth another Jesus, whom we have not preached, or if ye receive another spirit, which ye have not received, or another gospel, which ye have not accepted, ye might well bear with him.
5 For I suppose I was not a whit behind the very chiefest apostles.
6 But though I be rude in speech, yet not in knowledge; but we have been throughly made manifest among you in all things.
Cut them off.
Galatians 5:12
12 I would they were even cut off which trouble you.
Many are offended by the message of Christ and Him Crucified. Instead they preach, man and him obedient. The gospel is not something man does, or creates by faith, but the simplicity of the gospel is that Christ came to save His people. Whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.
Matthew 1:21
21 And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name JESUS: for he shall save his people from their sins.
1 Corinthians 4:15
15 For though ye have ten thousand instructors in Christ, yet have ye not many fathers: for in Christ Jesus I have begotten you through the gospel.1 Corinthians 1:17-31
17 For Christ sent me not to baptize, but to preach the gospel: not with wisdom of words, lest the cross of Christ should be made of none effect.
18 For the preaching of the cross is to them that perish foolishness; but unto us which are saved it is the power of God.
19 For it is written, I will destroy the wisdom of the wise, and will bring to nothing the understanding of the prudent.
20 Where is the wise? where is the scribe? where is the disputer of this world? hath not God made foolish the wisdom of this world?
21 For after that in the wisdom of God the world by wisdom knew not God, it pleased God by the foolishness of preaching to save them that believe.
22 For the Jews require a sign, and the Greeks seek after wisdom:
23 But we preach Christ crucified, unto the Jews a stumblingblock, and unto the Greeks foolishness;
24 But unto them which are called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God, and the wisdom of God.
25 Because the foolishness of God is wiser than men; and the weakness of God is stronger than men.
26 For ye see your calling, brethren, how that not many wise men after the flesh, not many mighty, not many noble, are called:
27 But God hath chosen the foolish things of the world to confound the wise; and God hath chosen the weak things of the world to confound the things which are mighty;
28 And base things of the world, and things which are despised, hath God chosen, yea, and things which are not, to bring to nought things that are:
29 That no flesh should glory in his presence.
30 But of him are ye in Christ Jesus, who of God is made unto us wisdom, and righteousness, and sanctification, and redemption:
31 That, according as it is written, He that glorieth, let him glory in the Lord.1 Corinthians 2:2
2 For I determined not to know any thing among you, save Jesus Christ, and him crucified.Romans 1:16
16 For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.1 John 5:1, 4, 5
1 Whosoever believeth that Jesus is the Christ is born of God: and every one that loveth him that begat loveth him also that is begotten of him.
4 For whatsoever is born of God overcometh the world: and this is the victory that overcometh the world, even our faith.
5 Who is he that overcometh the world, but he that believeth that Jesus is the Son of God?The one that overcomes is the one that is born again.
1 John 5:4
4 For whatsoever is born of God overcometh the world: and this is the victory that overcometh the world, even our faith.
Faith is the victory. The battle is already won.
2 Timothy 1:12
12 For the which cause I also suffer these things: nevertheless I am not ashamed: for I know whom I have believed, and am persuaded that he is able to keep that which I have committed unto him against that day.
It is Christ that died for the believer, and it is Christ that promises everlasting life, and that apart from man's works. The Author of that faith, Christ our Lord, is the one that saves and is the One that has earned our salvation. He is the Captain of our salvation.
Hebrews 2:10
10 For it became him, for whom are all things, and by whom are all things, in bringing many sons unto glory, to make the captain of their salvation perfect through sufferings.
Jesus saves. He is the One that begins a good work in a person, and He is the One that finishes it.
Hebrews 5:9
9 And being made perfect, he became the author of eternal salvation unto all them that obey him;Hebrews 12:2
2 Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.Philippians 1:3-7
3 I thank my God upon every remembrance of you,
4 Always in every prayer of mine for you all making request with joy,
5 For your fellowship in the gospel from the first day until now;
6 Being confident of this very thing, that he which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ:
7 Even as it is meet for me to think this of you all, because I have you in my heart; inasmuch as both in my bonds, and in the defence and confirmation of the gospel, ye all are partakers of my grace.
My soul shall make her boast in the Lord. That is the boast of the believer.
Psalms 34:1-4
1 I will bless the LORD at all times: his praise shall continually be in my mouth.
2 My soul shall make her boast in the LORD: the humble shall hear thereof, and be glad.
3 O magnify the LORD with me, and let us exalt his name together.
4 I sought the LORD, and he heard me, and delivered me from all my fears.
The believer has faith, i.e., believes, because they are to have eternal life. Whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved. Salvation is of the Lord.
The gospel is not something man does, but is what Christ has done. Jesus came to save His people from their sins (Matthew 1:21). Sin separates man from God, and Christ saves man from the sins. His people are born again (John 3:1-7). It is Christ that works in them both to will and do of His good pleasure.
Philippians 2:13
13 For it is God which worketh in you both to will and to do of his good pleasure.
He that has begun a good work in the believer will perform it to the end.
Philippians 1:6
6 Being confident of this very thing, that he which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ:
From the moment a man begins to believe they are every bit as saved as they will be ten thousand years from now. The man may not be all he should be, but the Savior is. Salvation is of the Lord. You must recall the passages from Hebrews 12 about chastening. Salvation is of the Lord (Jonah 2:9). Man is a miserable, blind and dead to God sinner, that never would seek God, and never would understand apart from the sovereign saving grace of our Lord Jesus Christ. Jesus saves His people.
Matthew 1:21
21 And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name JESUS: for he shall save his people from their sins.John 6:39, 44-45, 63-66
39 And this is the Father's will which hath sent me, that of all which he hath given me I should lose nothing, but should raise it up again at the last day.
44 No man can come to me, except the Father which hath sent me draw him: and I will raise him up at the last day.
45 It is written in the prophets, And they shall be all taught of God. Every man therefore that hath heard, and hath learned of the Father, cometh unto me.
63 It is the spirit that quickeneth; the flesh profiteth nothing: the words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life.
64 But there are some of you that believe not. For Jesus knew from the beginning who they were that believed not, and who should betray him.
65 And he said, Therefore said I unto you, that no man can come unto me, except it were given unto him of my Father.
66 From that time many of his disciples went back, and walked no more with him.John 17:6, 9
6 I have manifested thy name unto the men which thou gavest me out of the world: thine they were, and thou gavest them me; and they have kept thy word.
9 I pray for them: I pray not for the world, but for them which thou hast given me; for they are thine.
Christ died for our sins, was buried and rose from the dead the third day.
1 Corinthians 15:1-4
1 Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand;
2 By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain.
3 For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures;
4 And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:
For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life (John 3:16). Because Jesus lives, believers shall live also.
John 14:19
19 Yet a little while, and the world seeth me no more; but ye see me: because I live, ye shall live also.
Eternal Life.
Romans 8:35-39
35 Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword?
36 As it is written, For thy sake we are killed all the day long; we are accounted as sheep for the slaughter.
37 Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us.
38 For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come,
39 Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.John 10:27-30
27 My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me:
28 And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand.
29 My Father, which gave them me, is greater than all; and no man is able to pluck them out of my Father's hand.
30 I and my Father are one.
What do I say to close all this? Dear readers, See there, the Cross, and there the Empty Tomb? Christ died for you, and if you only believe He will save you, He has died for you, paying for your sins. Whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved. Our Lord gives you everlasting life if you only believe. Look and live sinner. Love Him, because He has first loved you, and His love for you has the gift of saving you from your sin and giving everlasting life even this very moment if you will receive it.
Why would any want to go the way of the perishing? For it is Christ that died for our sins, and it is Christ that saves us from our sins. If you will only look and believe. . .
Marching to Zion

Come, we that love the Lord,
And let our joys be known;
Join in a song with sweet accord,
Join in a song with sweet accord
And thus surround the throne,
And thus surround the throne.
We're marching to Zion,
Beautiful, beautiful Zion;
We're marching upward to Zion,
The beautiful city of God.
Let those that refuse to sing,
Who never knew our God;
But children of the heavenly King,
But children of the heavenly King
May speak their joys abroad,
May speak their joys abroad.
We're marching to Zion,
Beautiful, beautiful Zion;
We're marching upward to Zion,
The beautiful city of God.
The God, Who rules on high,
Who all the earth surveys,
Who rides upon the stormy sky,
Who rides upon the stormy sky,
And calms the roaring seas,
And calms the roaring seas.
We're marching to Zion,
Beautiful, beautiful Zion;
We're marching upward to Zion,
The beautiful city of God.
This awful God is ours,
Our Father and our Love;
He will send down his heav'nly powers,
He will send down his heav'nly powers,
To carry us above,
To carry us above.
We're marching to Zion,
Beautiful, beautiful Zion;
We're marching upward to Zion,
The beautiful city of God.
There we shall see His face,
And never, never sin!
There, from the rivers of His grace,
There, from the rivers of His grace,
Drink endless pleasures in,
Drink endless pleasures in.
We're marching to Zion,
Beautiful, beautiful Zion;
We're marching upward to Zion,
The beautiful city of God.
Yea, and before we rise,
To that immortal state,
The thoughts of such amazing bliss,
The thoughts of such amazing bliss,
Should constant joys create,
Should constant joys create.
We're marching to Zion,
Beautiful, beautiful Zion;
We're marching upward to Zion,
The beautiful city of God.
The men of grace have found,
Glory begun below.
Celestial fruit on earthly ground
Celestial fruit on earthly ground
From faith and hope may grow,
From faith and hope may grow.
We're marching to Zion,
Beautiful, beautiful Zion;
We're marching upward to Zion,
The beautiful city of God.
The hill of Zion yields
A thousand sacred sweets
Before we reach the heavenly fields,
Before we reach the heavenly fields,
Or walk the golden streets,
Or walk the golden streets.
We're marching to Zion,
Beautiful, beautiful Zion;
We're marching upward to Zion,
The beautiful city of God.
Then let our songs abound,
And every tear be dry;
We're marching through Emmanuel's ground,
We're marching through Emmanuel's ground,
To fairer worlds on high,
To fairer worlds on high.
We're marching to Zion,
Beautiful, beautiful Zion;
We're marching upward to Zion,
The beautiful city of God.
