Man's Knowledge of God
This is being written, from my standpoint, and as the author, to be for the benefit of those of the faith, however weak or beggarly from a man’s standpoint that faith might seem to be, from the results of not acknowledging God, from not nurturing the faith. If you forget God, you will not have confidence before God, but will seem as the hypocrites that know not God.
Rom 1:28 And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a reprobate mind, to do those things which are not convenient;
If you mess with the Lord, He will mess with your mind. Blame can be cast in many directions for our turning from the right path but here it is written, “And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a reprobate mind, to do those things which are not convenient.”
The mind can be turned to accuse and excuse in strange ways, thoughts the mean while accusing or else excusing one another (Rev 12:10).
For those that would be a gossip and busy body, instead consider it is written, in the mouth of two or three witnesses let every word be established. (Deut 19:15; 2Cor 12:21-13:1). God will not be mocked. God is judge (Psalm 50:6).
1 Corinthians 6:6 But brother goeth to law with brother, and that before the unbelievers. 7 Now therefore there is utterly a fault among you, because ye go to law one with another. Why do ye not rather take wrong? why do ye not rather suffer yourselves to be defrauded? 8 Nay, ye do wrong, and defraud, and that your brethren. 9 Know ye not that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God? Be not deceived: neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor abusers of themselves with mankind, 10 Nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners, shall inherit the kingdom of God. 11 And such were some of you: but ye are washed, but ye are sanctified, but ye are justified in the name of the Lord Jesus, and by the Spirit of our God.
And such were some of you. God can take a life that is in shambles and give hope and new direction. Repentance toward God, and faith toward our Lord Jesus Christ.
Some will pick at a matter and dwell on it, making it all they know, and as I mentioned, go to law one with another. It is past and it should stay there, in the past.
Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things (Phil 4:8).
Acts 20:21 Testifying both to the Jews, and also to the Greeks, repentance toward God, and faith toward our Lord Jesus Christ.
Hebrews 6:1 Therefore leaving the principles of the doctrine of Christ, let us go on unto perfection; not laying again the foundation of repentance from dead works, and of faith toward God,
Beware what you say, and where you turn. We that are of the faith are in a Christian warfare and none of us have arrived, but continue to fight the fight. Reader, I suggest you give a careful look to Romans chapter 7, and see where you are, for while you might think you are able to judge all things, and deal with all things as if you have arrived at perfect knowledge, and so you are suited to be a master architect, the word of God says different about you. See to yourself, and if you know it is God that cares for you, continue with Him, and realize, there is one mediator between God and men so let that mediator see to others and think not to make yourself a father to them, as if you were the builder of their tomorrow and the judge of their yesterday.
Romans 7:15 For that which I do I allow not: for what I would, that do I not; but what I hate, that do I. 16 If then I do that which I would not, I consent unto the law that it is good. 17 Now then it is no more I that do it, but sin that dwelleth in me. 18 For I know that in me (that is, in my flesh,) dwelleth no good thing: for to will is present with me; but how to perform that which is good I find not. 19 For the good that I would I do not: but the evil which I would not, that I do. 20 Now if I do that I would not, it is no more I that do it, but sin that dwelleth in me. 21 I find then a law, that, when I would do good, evil is present with me.
Matthew 23:9 And call no man your father upon the earth: for one is your Father, which is in heaven.
A false religious practice is shown that is being perpetuated, and while many see that system to be faulty, many, I fear, that otherwise reject that system still follow with their false practices.
Brethren, stay in the word, keep the faith and continue in prayer. Don’t let another pick at you as if they would be the architect of your future, and the remover of a beam in your eye. Don’t be as the silly women laden with sin that are taken captive by religionists (2 Tim 3:6). One is your mediator.
1 Timothy 2:5 For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus;
We must wait for the redemption, the putting off of the flesh, and then we will see Jesus, and that without sin. Now, don’t let your fleshly mind get puffed up.
Romans 8:23 And not only they, but ourselves also, which have the firstfruits of the Spirit, even we ourselves groan within ourselves, waiting for the adoption, to wit, the redemption of our body.
Matthew 15:18 But those things which proceed out of the mouth come forth from the heart; and they defile the man. 19 For out of the heart proceed evil thoughts, murders, adulteries, fornications, thefts, false witness, blasphemies:
God deals justly, but man deals with things irrationally and will stress one thing while neglecting another. King David in the Old Testament said he would rather deal with God for judgement than man, for His mercies are great (2 Sam 24:14). Job knew men called miserable comforters (Job 16:2-5). As Christians, if you are a Christian you are to be concerned with presenting the gospel to every creature. But what happens instead is a message that would destroy. But God is nevertheless mighty to save. Paul said he cared not how men judged him as he was judged of God (1Cor 4:3-4).
2 Samuel 24:14 And David said unto Gad, I am in a great strait: let us fall now into the hand of the LORD; for his mercies are great: and let me not fall into the hand of man.
1 Corinthians 4:3 But with me it is a very small thing that I should be judged of you, or of man's judgment: yea, I judge not mine own self. 4 For I know nothing by myself; yet am I not hereby justified: but he that judgeth me is the Lord.
Some turn to the world, and methods of the world to find peace, but it is written,
John 14:27 27 Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.
John 16:33 33 These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world.
Psalm 20:7 Some trust in chariots, and some in horses: but we will remember the name of the LORD our God.
Isaiah 31:1 Woe to them that go down to Egypt for help; and stay on horses, and trust in chariots, because they are many; and in horsemen, because they are very strong; but they look not unto the Holy One of Israel, neither seek the LORD!
Consider the words about pulling out the mote that is in thy brother’s eye.
Luke 6:41-42 41 And why beholdest thou the mote that is in thy brother's eye, but perceivest not the beam that is in thine own eye? 42 Either how canst thou say to thy brother, Brother, let me pull out the mote that is in thine eye, when thou thyself beholdest not the beam that is in thine own eye? Thou hypocrite, cast out first the beam out of thine own eye, and then shalt thou see clearly to pull out the mote that is in thy brother's eye.
If the Lord deals with us as sons, then let us not think to be mediator over another to judge their secrets, but see to yourself and let the gospel deal with the beam in your eye, and let the gospel deal with the mote in the eye of others (Rom 2:16). Don’t be wise in your own conceits (Rom 12:16).
Romans 2:16 In the day when God shall judge the secrets of men by Jesus Christ according to my gospel.
Romans 12:16 Be of the same mind one toward another. Mind not high things, but condescend to men of low estate. Be not wise in your own conceits.
The gospel has negative and positive aspects.
Heb 12:7 If ye endure chastening, God dealeth with you as with sons; for what son is he whom the father chasteneth not?
And how do we know God? God is a Spirit. That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit. In eternity past the Father chose some and gave them to the Son; the Son died to redeem those; and the Holy Spirit, in God’s time, regenerates those the Son died for. Ye must be born again. There is a notion we know God based on fleshly experience, by our learning from books and the lives of others, as if our knowledge of God were based on flesh and blood, but no, God is Spirit, and so ye must be born again, born of the Spirit, and taught of the Spirit. Our knowledge of God is written with the Spirit of the living God, and therefore we look to the written word of God (2 Pet 1:21). We dare not trust our thoughts, no, not even our own minds of flesh, but trust in the Lord and His written word.
Matthew 4:4 But he answered and said, It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God.
John 6:63 It is the spirit that quickeneth; the flesh profiteth nothing: the words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life.
John 4:24 God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth.
Luke 10:22 All things are delivered to me of my Father: and no man knoweth who the Son is, but the Father; and who the Father is, but the Son, and he to whom the Son will reveal him.
Mat 16:17 And Jesus answered and said unto him, Blessed art thou, Simon Barjona: for flesh and blood hath not revealed it unto thee, but my Father which is in heaven.
2Th 2:13 But we are bound to give thanks alway to God for you, brethren beloved of the Lord, because God hath from the beginning chosen you to salvation through sanctification of the Spirit and belief of the truth:
John 16:13 Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come.
John 15:26 But when the Comforter is come, whom I will send unto you from the Father, even the Spirit of truth, which proceedeth from the Father, he shall testify of me:
We do not relive and rebuild yesterday for it would be based on dubious memory. And some things are a shame to speak of. We ought not go to law one with another.
Philippians 3:13 Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before,
We do not build tomorrow, and yesterday is past, but we have today.
Mat 6:34 Take therefore no thought for the morrow: for the morrow shall take thought for the things of itself. Sufficient unto the day is the evil thereof.
I know there is mercy with the Lord.
A message of comfort from the Scriptures,
that we through patience and comfort of the scriptures might have hope.
Come and hear, all ye that
fear God,
and I will declare what he hath done for my soul.
