By God's grace, still presenting the same old message from the same old Book...

What should the wicked expect? Should they be encouraged in their pride, as if they would sway our Lord?

Proverbs 16:4 The LORD hath made all things for himself: yea, even the wicked for the day of evil.

Jeremiah 17:18 Let them be confounded that persecute me, but let not me be confounded: let them be dismayed, but let not me be dismayed: bring upon them the day of evil, and destroy them with double destruction.

Romans 9:21 Hath not the potter power over the clay, of the same lump to make one vessel unto honour, and another unto dishonour?
22 What if God, willing to shew his wrath, and to make his power known, endured with much longsuffering the vessels of wrath fitted to destruction:

2 Peter 1:122 For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost.

Jude 1:4 For there are certain men crept in unawares, who were before of old ordained to this condemnation, ungodly men, turning the grace of our God into lasciviousness, and denying the only Lord God, and our Lord Jesus Christ.

Myself, here and now, I think a heathen that was once lost and is now saved would give a testimony similar to that of  Nebuchadnezzar as recorded in Daniel.

Dan 4:35 And all the inhabitants of the earth are reputed as nothing: and he doeth according to his will in the army of heaven, and among the inhabitants of the earth: and none can stay his hand, or say unto him, What doest thou?

Yet, while suffering through affliction, we lift our complaint before God.

Psalm 102: 1 <<A Prayer of the afflicted, when he is overwhelmed, and poureth out his complaint before the LORD.>> Hear my prayer, O LORD, and let my cry come unto thee.

God does all things well. Also, I find it written, "Fear God, and keep his commandments: for this is the whole duty of man." Regarding His ways, these words suit my sentiments:

Psalms 119:24 Thy testimonies also are my delight and my counsellors.

Our Lord Is Almighty God

Isaiah 40:13 Who hath directed the Spirit of the LORD, or being his counsellor hath taught him?
14 With whom took he counsel, and who instructed him, and taught him in the path of judgment, and taught him knowledge, and shewed to him the way of understanding?

Isaiah 46:10 Declaring the end from the beginning, and from ancient times the things that are not yet done, saying, My counsel shall stand, and I will do all my pleasure:
11 Calling a ravenous bird from the east, the man that executeth my counsel from a far country: yea, I have spoken it, I will also bring it to pass; I have purposed it, I will also do it.

We Are Commanded To Be Doers Of The Word

Matthew 5:44 But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you;
45 That ye may be the children of your Father which is in heaven: for he maketh his sun to rise on the evil and on the good, and sendeth rain on the just and on the unjust.

Regarding good deeds, we are limited in good deeds to matters of a temporal nature. Salvation is eternal, and not temporal. Nothing we do can be compared to the eternal. We are to do good unto all men. God makes the rain to fall on the just and unjust. There is the temporal. Salvation is of the Lord. That is eternal, those saved born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God. The temporal that we are limited to does not enter in. God is not limited by the temporal.

Regarding our works, what we say or do might be considered by one person, to be something exceptional. When we find something is a passage of Scripture that is found to be a great blessing, another person might not be as exited. How one sees things is a matter of perspective in a sense. The finite mind is limited in its reach, yet, the Scriptures are given that the man of God may be "throughly furnished" unto all good works. While declaring "Thy testimonies also are my delight and my counsellors" I nevertheless find myself perusing other places. I examine life's experience, and there is found reproofs of instruction, and the Scripture supports that I think (Prov 15:31; 29:15; Psalm 141:5). Some might look at these things that are written and be settled in their mind, and thus not be concerned with what is being said. Another might be in great anguish of mind over things hidden from others but clear to them, and while they might be surrounded by plush creature comforts, if their eyes would pass over these words their agony would keep them from even seeing the words. Another that is having the creature comforts fall away through fiery trials is nevertheless at peace and finds comfort from the words, "He hath done whatsoever He hath pleased." (Psalm 115:3)

The poor are counted rich in faith. That word poor is defined different ways in the passages of Scripture. For the sake of brevity, I'll only mention that when a man recognizes that of himself he is helpless regarding eternal things, then he is poor.

Why, when the same trials are being experienced, does it seem that one man is not troubled, and another is? Not only does His sun rise on the evil and on the good, and rain falls on the just and on the unjust, but so do horrible troubles. One seems to go through some trials with relative peace, and another has deep anguish. We are all subject to such things.

It is readily admitted, God's ways seem mysterious. When Joseph was chosen to be promoted, he was sent to Egypt and put in chains as a slave (Ps. 105:16-19). Moses was sent to the back side of the desert when he was to save Israel. John the Baptist prepared the way for the Lord, and part of his message was that he must decrease but Christ must increase. John lost his head. Paul was told he would suffer many things, and he did. Suffering and pain are a real part of our lives. But hope in Christ is real also. God is greater than all our problems. A blind man received his sight and Jesus saved him. Then the religious rulers threw him out of the temple where he worshiped (Jn. 9:1-34). A poor man that would approach Jesus if only to touch Him might be hindered by those that are rich, rich in the sense they are not recognizing their own helplessness.

Psalms 91:1 He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty.
2 I will say of the LORD, He is my refuge and my fortress: my God; in him will I trust.

Here Is Our Lord’s Judgments And Ways

Romans 11:33 O the depth of the riches both of the wisdom and knowledge of God! how unsearchable are his judgments, and his ways past finding out!
34 For who hath known the mind of the Lord? or who hath been his counsellor?
35 Or who hath first given to him, and it shall be recompensed unto him again?
36 For of him, and through him, and to him, are all things: to whom be glory for ever. Amen.

Here Is Our Lord’s Love

Ephesians 3:14 For this cause I bow my knees unto the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ,
15 Of whom the whole family in heaven and earth is named,
16 That he would grant you, according to the riches of his glory, to be strengthened with might by his Spirit in the inner man;
17 That Christ may dwell in your hearts by faith; that ye, being rooted and grounded in love,
18 May be able to comprehend with all saints what is the breadth, and length, and depth, and height;
19 And to know the love of Christ, which passeth knowledge, that ye might be filled with all the fulness of God.
20 Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us,
21 Unto him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus throughout all ages, world without end. Amen.

How unsearchable are his judgments, and his ways past finding out! His ways are wonderful and horrible. But O what wonderful joy to know the love of Christ, which passeth knowledge. He is God. That word passeth is translated from huperballo and is used in the present participle. As it is used, it means “supereminent,” “to throw beyond,” that is, the reach of the love to us that are saved is beyond the reach of knowledge to us. The love is super abounding. While knowledge can puff us up and bring sorrow, love super abounds beyond that. Wondrous love!

Therefore, as Paul says, “that ye, being rooted and grounded in love, May be able to comprehend with all saints what is the breadth, and length, and depth, and height; And to know the love of Christ, which passeth knowledge, that ye might be filled with all the fulness of God.” That ought to be our prayer for one another.

The Love Of Christ, Which Passeth Knowledge. . . Eph 3:19

His Love Passeth Knowledge

Words: Fanny Crosby, in Radiant Songs,
edited by John R. Sweney et al.
(Philadelphia, Pennsylvania: John J. Hood, 1891).
Music: John R. Sweney

There is joy in my soul, for the Savior is mine,
I am wearing the pledge of His Spirit divine;
Every promise by faith through His grace I may claim,
Oh, His love passeth knowledge, all praise to His Name.

There is joy in my soul, there is joy in my song,
I am nearing the gates of the bright, shining throng;
And I list to the music of Eden so fair,
Hallelujah to Jesus, I soon shall be there.

There is joy in my soul that will never depart,
My Redeemer has made His abode in my heart;
From the tempter and sin I am kept every hour,
Oh, His love passeth knowledge, so great is its power.

There is joy in my soul, there is joy in my song,
I am nearing the gates of the bright, shining throng;
And I list to the music of Eden so fair,
Hallelujah to Jesus, I soon shall be there.

There is joy in my soul though the clouds may arise,
Yet the bow of His mercy ne’er fades from the skies;
I am standing by faith where the pure waters glide,
Oh, His love passeth knowledge, so deep and so wide.

There is joy in my soul, there is joy in my song,
I am nearing the gates of the bright, shining throng;
And I list to the music of Eden so fair,
Hallelujah to Jesus, I soon shall be there.

There is joy in my soul, there is rapture and rest,
In my Savior and Lord I am perfectly blest;
’Twill be only a step ere my feet press the shore,
Then “His love passeth knowledge,” I’ll shout evermore.

There is joy in my soul, there is joy in my song,
I am nearing the gates of the bright, shining throng;
And I list to the music of Eden so fair,
Hallelujah to Jesus, I soon shall be there.

A message of comfort from the Scriptures,
that we through patience and comfort
of the scriptures might have hope.

Come and hear, all ye that fear God,
and I will declare what he hath done for my soul.
