Christ Died For Our Sins
Reaching forth...
Why Publish The Gospel?
Going to the Scriptures, I find what I have to say. The Bible is what I use. Those saved are saved from their sins, made holy. In Scripture, it shows that those holy, that is made holy, were chosen by God before the foundation of the world, to be holy.
The Scriptures make clear all we like sheep have gone astray.
Isaiah 53:6
6 All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned every one to his own way; and the LORD hath laid on him the iniquity of us all.Romans 3:23
23 For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;2 Peter 3:9
9 The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.1 John 2:2
2 And he is the propitiation for our sins: and not for ours only, but also for the sins of the whole world.
Christ is the propitiation (atoning sacrifice, paying the wages for the sins of the whole world) that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.
Romans 6:23
23 For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.2 Peter 3:9
9 The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.1 John 2:2
2 And he is the propitiation for our sins: and not for ours only, but also for the sins of the whole world.John 3:16
16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
As it is written, That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. (Romans 10:9-10)
Casting aside the doubts you might have based on uncertainty from a poor understanding of election and predestination, or the frailty of your faith I say, Have you personally confessed to God that you yourself are a sinner, and asked Christ our Lord to save you? If you have not, don't delay. Believe, for it is Christ Jesus that saves. For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
The Scriptures declare Christ died for sinners, and Whosoever shall call upon the Name of the Lord shall be saved. To put the emphasis on confession of election and predestination is not presenting the message of the Cross of Christ clearly. One must personally receive our Lord Jesus Christ by faith.
You that do not personally receive Christ by faith do so on your own judge yourselves unworthy of everlasting life. (Acts 13:46) Salvation is gained by one that personally receives the Lord Jesus Christ by faith.
One need not understand all the deep things of the Word of God to receive Christ. But you must receive Christ. Don't refuse Him. As I live, saith the Lord GOD, I have no pleasure in the death of the wicked; but that the wicked turn from his way and live: turn ye, turn ye from your evil ways; for why will ye die.
Hebrews 2:3
3 How shall we escape, if we neglect so great salvation; which at the first began to be spoken by the Lord, and was confirmed unto us by them that heard him;Ezekiel 33:11
11 Say unto them, As I live, saith the Lord GOD, I have no pleasure in the death of the wicked; but that the wicked turn from his way and live: turn ye, turn ye from your evil ways; for why will ye die, O house of Israel?Romans 10:13
13 For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.
The gospel is to be preached to every creature. Whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved. John 3:16 tells use in certain terms, For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
We are begotten by the preaching of the Gospel. (1 Corinthians 4:15; Romans 1:16; Romans 10:17; 1 Corinthians 1:18-24; 1 Corinthians 2:2; 1 Corinthians 15:1-4; 2 Corinthians 2:14-16; 2 Timothy 1:8; 1 Peter 1:23; 1 Peter 1:3-5) So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the Word of God. (Romans 10:17) Jesus saves, and whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
Showing the certainty of salvation for all those that believe, the Bible says the saved are predestined to the adoption of children, predestined, that is the matter is determined before, God not willing that any should perish, and He brings our salvation about using means before ordained, the foolishness of preaching.
Ephesians 1:4-6
4 According as he hath chosen us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before him in love:
5 Having predestinated us unto the adoption of children by Jesus Christ to himself, according to the good pleasure of his will,
6 To the praise of the glory of his grace, wherein he hath made us accepted in the beloved.1 Corinthians 1:18-21
18 For the preaching of the cross is to them that perish foolishness; but unto us which are saved it is the power of God.
19 For it is written, I will destroy the wisdom of the wise, and will bring to nothing the understanding of the prudent.
20 Where is the wise? where is the scribe? where is the disputer of this world? hath not God made foolish the wisdom of this world?
21 For after that in the wisdom of God the world by wisdom knew not God, it pleased God by the foolishness of preaching to save them that believe.Rom 1:16
16 For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.
The believer is assured of salvation, as it is written, "God hath from the beginning chosen you to salvation..."
2 Thessalonians 2:13
13 But we are bound to give thanks alway to God for you, brethren beloved of the Lord, because God hath from the beginning chosen you to salvation through sanctification of the Spirit and belief of the truth:
This Scripture shows believers are certainly saved. In fact, it shows from Scripture, that those born again, are born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God. It is not of man, but of God making salvation certain.
John 6:37, 44, 65
37 All that the Father giveth me shall come to me; and him that cometh to me I will in no wise cast out.
44 No man can come to me, except the Father which hath sent me draw him: and I will raise him up at the last day.
65 And he said, Therefore said I unto you, that no man can come unto me, except it were given unto him of my Father.
The Bible is taken as a whole, and when parts are denied, or stressed beyond their rightful limits, then the corruption is not with the Scriptures, but is based on our frailty. Christ is known by the testimony given in Scripture, and when those Scriptures that tell of Him are denied, then a false, incomplete presentation of Christ is presented. With the preaching of the cross, the Christ of Scripture should be made clear. The imaginations of men, and the denial of Scripture are not valid indicators of the Christ of Scripture.
Looking to Scripture, apart from faith in Christ our Lord all men would perish (Rom 9:21-22; 1 Peter 2:8; 2 Peter 2:3-6; Jude 4). Those of their own selves refuse to believe are left to their own devices, blinded, as shown in Scripture. Those that refuse so great a salvation are rightly vessels of wrath, fitted to destruction.
Romans 9:21-22
21 Hath not the potter power over the clay, of the same lump to make one vessel unto honour, and another unto dishonour?
22 What if God, willing to shew his wrath, and to make his power known, endured with much longsuffering the vessels of wrath fitted to destruction:
Some are shown disobedient: whereunto also they were appointed because of their own unbelief. Yet the believers are saved from their sins (Revelation 17:14).
1 Peter 2:8
8 And a stone of stumbling, and a rock of offence, even to them which stumble at the word, being disobedient: whereunto also they were appointed.
Those that refuse to believe are shown to be the ones whose judgment now of a long time lingereth not, and their damnation slumbereth not, as shown in Scripture.
2 Peter 2:3-6
3 And through covetousness shall they with feigned words make merchandise of you: whose judgment now of a long time lingereth not, and their damnation slumbereth not.
4 For if God spared not the angels that sinned, but cast them down to hell, and delivered them into chains of darkness, to be reserved unto judgment;
5 And spared not the old world, but saved Noah the eighth person, a preacher of righteousness, bringing in the flood upon the world of the ungodly;
6 And turning the cities of Sodom and Gomorrha into ashes condemned them with an overthrow, making them an ensample unto those that after should live ungodly;
Those that refuse to believe, that according to their own judgement they are unworthy of eternal life are ordained to condemnation, as shown in Scripture. But whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
Jude 4
4 For there are certain men crept in unawares, who were before of old ordained to this condemnation, ungodly men, turning the grace of our God into lasciviousness, and denying the only Lord God, and our Lord Jesus Christ.
Those that receive not a love of the truth, that do not believe the gospel, God has blinded their eyes, and hardened their heart; that they should not see with their eyes, nor understand with their heart, and be converted, and be healed. Whosoever believeth in Him should not perish.
John 12:37-40
37 But though he had done so many miracles before them, yet they believed not on him:
38 That the saying of Esaias the prophet might be fulfilled, which he spake, Lord, who hath believed our report? and to whom hath the arm of the Lord been revealed?
39 Therefore they could not believe, because that Esaias said again,
40 He hath blinded their eyes, and hardened their heart; that they should not see with their eyes, nor understand with their heart, and be converted, and I should heal them.
Those blinded because of their own unbelief, according as it is written, God gives them the spirit of slumber, eyes that they should not see, and ears that they should not hear. But whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
Rom 11:7-8
7 What then? Israel hath not obtained that which he seeketh for; but the election hath obtained it, and the rest were blinded
8 (According as it is written, God hath given them the spirit of slumber, eyes that they should not see, and ears that they should not hear;) unto this day.
Lord Christ gave His life.
John 10:11, 14-15
11 I am the good shepherd: the good shepherd giveth his life for the sheep.
14 I am the good shepherd, and know my sheep, and am known of mine.
15 As the Father knoweth me, even so know I the Father: and I lay down my life for the sheep.
Not all believe, but whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
John 10:26
26 But ye believe not, because ye are not of my sheep, as I said unto you.
Those that believe receive eternal life.
Acts 13:48
48 And when the Gentiles heard this, they were glad, and glorified the word of the Lord: and as many as were ordained to eternal life believed.
Christ gave His life, believers follow Him, and they shall never perish, as shown in Scripture.
John 10:27-28
27 My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me:
28 And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand.
Some do not believe, counting themselves unworthy of eternal life, rejecting so great a salvation as is ours in Christ. Those that refuse to believe are fitted to destruction.
John 6:64
64 But there are some of you that believe not. For Jesus knew from the beginning who they were that believed not, and who should betray him.John 10:26
26 But ye believe not, because ye are not of my sheep, as I said unto you.
Very many Scriptures have been shown. Salvation is certain for whosoever believeth in Him. Faith comes by hearing. But not all believe, as they hear, but refuse to believe.
Hebrews 4:2
2 For unto us was the gospel preached, as well as unto them: but the word preached did not profit them, not being mixed with faith in them that heard it.
But whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
Ephesians 2:8
8 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:
How shall we escape, if we neglect so great salvation; which at the first began to be spoken by the Lord, and was confirmed unto us by them that heard Him. (Hebrews 2:3)
Jeremiah 13:23
23 Can the Ethiopian change his skin, or the leopard his spots? then may ye also do good, that are accustomed to do evil.Proverbs 2:14
14 Who rejoice to do evil, and delight in the frowardness of the wicked;
2 Kings 17:14
14 Notwithstanding they would not hear, but hardened their necks, like to the neck of their fathers, that did not believe in the LORD their God.2 Corinthians 3:14-15
14 But their minds were blinded: for until this day remaineth the same vail untaken away in the reading of the old testament; which vail is done away in Christ.
15 But even unto this day, when Moses is read, the vail is upon their heart.2 Corinthians 4:4
4 In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them.
Of ourselves, there is nothing to commend us to God, and of ourselves, we go astray, not seeking God, not loving God. But whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
Isaiah 64:6-8
6 But we are all as an unclean thing, and all our righteousnesses are as filthy rags; and we all do fade as a leaf; and our iniquities, like the wind, have taken us away.
7 And there is none that calleth upon thy name, that stirreth up himself to take hold of thee: for thou hast hid thy face from us, and hast consumed us, because of our iniquities.
8 But now, O LORD, thou art our father; we are the clay, and thou our potter; and we all are the work of thy hand.2 Timothy 3:2-8
2 For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy,
3 Without natural affection, trucebreakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good,
4 Traitors, heady, highminded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God;
5 Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away.
6 For of this sort are they which creep into houses, and lead captive silly women laden with sins, led away with divers lusts,
7 Ever learning, and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth.
8 Now as Jannes and Jambres withstood Moses, so do these also resist the truth: men of corrupt minds, reprobate concerning the faith.John 10:26
26 But ye believe not, because ye are not of my sheep, as I said unto you.Romans 3:10-18, 23
10 As it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one:
11 There is none that understandeth, there is none that seeketh after God.
12 They are all gone out of the way, they are together become unprofitable; there is none that doeth good, no, not one.
13 Their throat is an open sepulchre; with their tongues they have used deceit; the poison of asps is under their lips:
14 Whose mouth is full of cursing and bitterness:
15 Their feet are swift to shed blood:
16 Destruction and misery are in their ways:
17 And the way of peace have they not known:
18 There is no fear of God before their eyes.
23 For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;
Nothing happens, except at the Hand of God, for if otherwise there is another greater than God. As shown in Scripture, we receive good at the hand of God, and evil. But whosever shall call upon the Name of the Lord shall be saved. Whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
Job 2:10
10 But he said unto her, Thou speakest as one of the foolish women speaketh. What? shall we receive good at the hand of God, and shall we not receive evil? In all this did not Job sin with his lips.
As shown in Scripture, their is none greater than our God, none hold His hand back, and none go beyond what He allows.
1 Timothy 6:15
15 Which in his times he shall shew, who is the blessed and only Potentate, the King of kings, and Lord of lords;Psalms 83:18
18 That men may know that thou, whose name alone is JEHOVAH, art the most high over all the earth.
Proverbs 8:15-17
5 By me kings reign, and princes decree justice.
16 By me princes rule, and nobles, even all the judges of the earth.Deuteronomy 32:39
39 See now that I, even I, am he, and there is no god with me: I kill, and I make alive; I wound, and I heal: neither is there any that can deliver out of my hand.
Not all love the Lord. Some refuse to believe that God commendeth His love toward us, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. (Rom 5:8; 1 John 4:19)
Romans 1:30
30 Backbiters, haters of God, despiteful, proud, boasters, inventors of evil things, disobedient to parents,Exodus 20:5
5 Thou shalt not bow down thyself to them, nor serve them: for I the LORD thy God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation of them that hate me;Deuteronomy 32:41
41 If I whet my glittering sword, and mine hand take hold on judgment; I will render vengeance to mine enemies, and will reward them that hate me.
Even the wrath of man serves our Lord's sovereign purpose, to fulfill the things preordained, to be accomplished providentially.
Psalms 76:10
10 Surely the wrath of man shall praise thee: the remainder of wrath shalt thou restrain.2 Thessalonians 2:7-12
7 For the mystery of iniquity doth already work: only he who now letteth will let, until he be taken out of the way.
8 And then shall that Wicked be revealed, whom the Lord shall consume with the spirit of his mouth, and shall destroy with the brightness of his coming:
9 Even him, whose coming is after the working of Satan with all power and signs and lying wonders,
10 And with all deceivableness of unrighteousness in them that perish; because they received not the love of the truth, that they might be saved.
11 And for this cause God shall send them strong delusion, that they should believe a lie:
12 That they all might be damned who believed not the truth, but had pleasure in unrighteousness.Revelation 17:17
17 For God hath put in their hearts to fulfil his will, and to agree, and give their kingdom unto the beast, until the words of God shall be fulfilled.
Joseph's brother conspired, by their wrath, to slay him.
Genesis 37:18-19
18 And when they saw him afar off, even before he came near unto them, they conspired against him to slay him.
19 And they said one to another, Behold, this dreamer cometh.
The brothers of Joseph were restrained, in that they did not slay Joseph, but that wrath of theirs remaining served the purpose of God. According to the providential decrees of our Lord, they went about to fulfill the purpose of God, but only intended evil against Joseph.
Genesis 50:20
20 But as for you, ye thought evil against me; but God meant it unto good, to bring to pass, as it is this day, to save much people alive.
Even the wicked are used to accomplish our great God's purpose, but the wicked being responsible for their evil deeds will be destroyed, unless the Lord show mercy, and He will show mercy on whom He will show mercy, and whom He will He hardeneth.
Proverbs 16:4-5
4 The LORD hath made all things for himself: yea, even the wicked for the day of evil.
5 Every one that is proud in heart is an abomination to the LORD: though hand join in hand, he shall not be unpunished.Romans 9:21-22
21 Hath not the potter power over the clay, of the same lump to make one vessel unto honour, and another unto dishonour?
22 What if God, willing to shew his wrath, and to make his power known, endured with much longsuffering the vessels of wrath fitted to destruction:
As shown in Scripture, those that love our Lord do so, as He first loved them. (1 John 4:19) Great mercy there is, amazing grace bestowed, for the one that loves the Lord.
Proverbs 8:17
17 I love them that love me; and those that seek me early shall find me.1 John 4:19
19 We love him, because he first loved us.
It is of the Lord's mercy that any would be spared.
Lamentations 3:22-23
22 It is of the LORD's mercies that we are not consumed, because his compassions fail not.
23 They are new every morning: great is thy faithfulness.1 Timothy 2:4
4 Who will have all men to be saved, and to come unto the knowledge of the truth.
Our Lord and mighty God is powerful to save, being the blessed and only Potentate, the King of kings, and Lord of lords; whose name alone is JEHOVAH.
John 10:11, 15, 28
11 I am the good shepherd: the good shepherd giveth his life for the sheep.
15 As the Father knoweth me, even so know I the Father: and I lay down my life for the sheep.
28 And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand.
Our Lord is the potter.
Rom 9:15-16, 18
15 For he saith to Moses, I will have mercy on whom I will have mercy, and I will have compassion on whom I will have compassion.
16 So then it is not of him that willeth, nor of him that runneth, but of God that sheweth mercy.
18 Therefore hath he mercy on whom he will have mercy, and whom he will he hardeneth.
None have power over our Lord, the only Potentate. He alone is saviour. Not all are lost, but some are saved, while others are to be destroyed, condemned because they believe not, being wicked, reprobate, even as all have sinned.
Proverbs 16:4-5
4 The LORD hath made all things for himself: yea, even the wicked for the day of evil.
5 Every one that is proud in heart is an abomination to the LORD: though hand join in hand, he shall not be unpunished.Romans 9:21
21 Hath not the potter power over the clay, of the same lump to make one vessel unto honour, and another unto dishonour?
Whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
John 3:18, 36
18 He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.
36 He that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life: and he that believeth not the Son shall not see life; but the wrath of God abideth on him.
All that come to Him shall be saved.
John 6:37, 40
37 All that the Father giveth me shall come to me; and him that cometh to me I will in no wise cast out.
40 And this is the will of him that sent me, that every one which seeth the Son, and believeth on him, may have everlasting life: and I will raise him up at the last day.
The clear testimony of Scripture is, For whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life. If you will only believe He will receive you, for He is no respecter of persons. Whosoever shall call upon the Name of the Lord shall be saved.
John 6:39, 44
39 And this is the Father's will which hath sent me, that of all which he hath given me I should lose nothing, but should raise it up again at the last day.
44 No man can come to me, except the Father which hath sent me draw him: and I will raise him up at the last day.
Satan by the providence of God is fulfilling the purpose of God, with those that believe not.
2 Corinthians 4:4
4 In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them.
There are enemies of the cross of Christ, but we can be certain, our Lord's purpose will be fulfilled, both with the wicked and the righteous. The Lord knows those that are His. The flames are ready, in anticipation of the wicked.
Philippians 3:18-21
18 (For many walk, of whom I have told you often, and now tell you even weeping, that they are the enemies of the cross of Christ:
19 Whose end is destruction, whose God is their belly, and whose glory is in their shame, who mind earthly things.)
20 For our conversation is in heaven; from whence also we look for the Saviour, the Lord Jesus Christ:
21 Who shall change our vile body, that it may be fashioned like unto his glorious body, according to the working whereby he is able even to subdue all things unto himself.
Yet now a place is being prepared for the children of God. Whosoever shall call upon the Name of the Lord shall be saved. Whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
Our Lord, He is able to subdue all things and not Satan, not all the devils, not all the wicked shall stop the hand of God.
Philippians 3:21
21 Who shall change our vile body, that it may be fashioned like unto his glorious body, according to the working whereby he is able even to subdue all things unto himself.Matthew 28:18
18 And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth.
Our presenting the gospel will accomplish what it has been sent to do, it being sent to save those that believe.
Matthew 28:19-20
19 Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:
20 Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen.Isaiah 55:3, 6-7, 11
3 Incline your ear, and come unto me: hear, and your soul shall live; and I will make an everlasting covenant with you, even the sure mercies of David.
6 Seek ye the LORD while he may be found, call ye upon him while he is near:
7 Let the wicked forsake his way, and the unrighteous man his thoughts: and let him return unto the LORD, and he will have mercy upon him; and to our God, for he will abundantly pardon.
11 So shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it.
God has His way in this matter, and is no respecter of persons. Whosoever shall call upon the Name of the Lord shall be saved. Whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
Come and hear, all ye that fear God,
and I will declare what he hath done for my soul.
Psalms 66:16
