By God's grace, still presenting the same old message from the same old Book...

Doesn't the Holy Spirit cause the true children of God to question the teachings of false prophets?

This is a question that many wonder about. There are among Christian people, many and varied stages of maturity and understanding. One thing that I think needs to be considered, that when we see error, we do not accommodate it at the expense of our own relation with the Lord. When loved ones, and dear friends are caught in error, it is a time when it is easy, I think, to agree with them and go along with them, rather than standing with the Lord and continuing to walk according the light we have been granted. Our path should be an upward journey, and with that things of the world are left behind. There are those things in all our lives, that fall short. When we act on the light given, our steps lead us closer, but when we fall back or stop, it is the world that encroaches on us. For our growth in the things of God, it is a little here, and there a little. The meat is not higher learning, IMHO, but is instead the doing of the word. Isa 28:9-10 We never walk alone when we walk with the Lord. Rom 8:9-10, 14; John 16:13; 14:26; 2 Tim 2:19; 1 Cor 2:10-13 cf John 6:63; Eph 4:7-15

Here a little, there a little

Isaiah 28:9 (KJV) Whom shall he teach knowledge? and whom shall he make to understand doctrine? them that are weaned from the milk, and drawn from the breasts.
10 For precept must be upon precept, precept upon precept; line upon line, line upon line; here a little, and there a little:

If any man have not the Spirit of Christ, he is none of his

Romans 8:9 But ye are not in the flesh, but in the Spirit, if so be that the Spirit of God dwell in you. Now if any man have not the Spirit of Christ, he is none of his.
10 And if Christ be in you, the body is dead because of sin; but the Spirit is life because of righteousness.

The sons of God are led by the Spirit of God

Romans 8:14 For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God.

The Spirit of Truth guides the sons of God into all truth

John 16:13 Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come.

The spirit of man knows the things of man, but the things of God are known only by the Spirit of God

1 Corinthians 2:10 But God hath revealed them unto us by his Spirit: for the Spirit searcheth all things, yea, the deep things of God.
11 For what man knoweth the things of a man, save the spirit of man which is in him? even so the things of God knoweth no man, but the Spirit of God.
12 Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the spirit which is of God; that we might know the things that are freely given to us of God.
13 Which things also we speak, not in the words which man's wisdom teacheth, but which the Holy Ghost teacheth; comparing spiritual things with spiritual.

Romans 8:16 The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God:

2 Timothy 2:19 Nevertheless the foundation of God standeth sure, having this seal, The Lord knoweth them that are his. And, Let every one that nameth the name of Christ depart from iniquity.

The answer is yes, the Holy Spirit does cause the true children of God to question false teaching, all in God's time. He makes no mistake, and does all things well.

Means are used to reach the people. How shall they hear without a preacher? Those that do not turn from their wicked ways will surly perish, and we dare not boast in tomorrow, saying we will do it another day (Prov 27:1; James 4:14-17).

2 Corinthians 6:2 (For he saith, I have heard thee in a time accepted, and in the day of salvation have I succoured thee: behold, now is the accepted time; behold, now is the day of salvation.)

One day, only God knows when, it will be to late. . .

Jeremiah 8:20 The harvest is past, the summer is ended, and we are not saved.

Hebrews 9:27 And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment:

Proverbs 27:1 Boast not thyself of to morrow; for thou knowest not what a day may bring forth.

James 4:14 Whereas ye know not what shall be on the morrow. For what is your life? It is even a vapour, that appeareth for a little time, and then vanisheth away.
15 For that ye ought to say, If the Lord will, we shall live, and do this, or that.
16 But now ye rejoice in your boastings: all such rejoicing is evil.
17 Therefore to him that knoweth to do good, and doeth it not, to him it is sin.

Eze 33:4-6; Eze 33:11, 19; Eze 33:31 cf Rom 10:5; Lev 18:5; Neh 9:29; Eze 20:11, 13, 21; Luke 10:27-28; Gal 3:12; Psalm 111:10

A message of comfort from the Scriptures,
that we through patience and comfort
of the scriptures might have hope.

Come and hear, all ye that fear God,
and I will declare what he hath done for my soul.
