"Discipleship" is a intra-denominational, bible study group for students in high school and college that meets twice a week at 7:00 pm - 8:30 pm on a day of the week that least conflicts with everyone's schedule in Chillicothe, Ohio. Currently we are meeting on Monday and Thursday evenings (except on the week of the fourth Thursday which conflicts with a Chrysalis Hoot).
Each week the discussion is led by a volunteer youth member who selects the topic and supporting materials/scripture. Meetings include a discussion on the weekly topic, sharing of joys and concerns, and prayer. Parents are always welcome to come to our weekly meetings.
To receive news about "Get Togethers", Discipleship meetings, or need further information feel free to contact Bill or Peggy McKell or Alan Cook.
Trinity is located at Main & Mulberry in Chillicothe, Ohio. I was an active member there from August 1994 through January 2002, while I lived in Chillicothe. I have previously taught Sunday School for the high school students and still do many activities with their youth program.
River Valley is my home church and is located on SR 104 at the south end of Waverly. I am actively involved in the leadership of their youth program, called "The Tide".
Ichthus is a Christian music festival held every spring in Wilmore, Kentucky. For many years our Discipleship group has gone and camped with the youth group from Faith Community United Methodist Church in West Chester, Ohio. While Christian music is the focus for most of the teenagers, Ichthus always has excellent speakers and seminars on topics that develop their spiritual growth. One of the most memorable moments for me each year is when over 20,000 participants share communion at the main arena on Saturday late in the afternoon.

Emmaus is a nondenominational, spiritual renewal weekend that is hosted in community churches across the world. I participated on the Men's' Walk #4, table of John, through the Greater Scioto Valley Emmaus Community during September in 1996. I was also on the team for Men's Walk #15 in September 2001.
Chrysalis is the Emmaus equivalent for teens and young adults. Many of our Discipleship members have been participants and staff members in the Chrysalis communities in Portsmouth and Columbus. I served on the team for Boys' Flight 11 in July 2002, Flight 12 in February 2003 and Flight 13 in July 2003.

Sponsoring a child through Compassion International is something that I have prayed about for many years, but had never taken the steps to sign up. While at Ichthus 2000, I finally stopped at the Compassion table and selected a child to sponsor. One of my life goals is to visit every continent and Brazil immediately jumped out at me. Someday I would hope to visit South America to see Patricio (an exchange student from Chilé/Discipleship member/Chief Logan staff member) or my Compassion child, Jamile. Some benefits of being a Compassion sponsor include being able to receive and send correspondence through translators. Each child has only one sponsor and over 80% of contributions go directly to your child.
Some facts about Compassion International: Smart Money magazine, published by The Wall Street Journal, rates Compassion as one of the top ten charitable organizations in the country based on trustworthiness and overall efficiency. Compassion's program is Christ-centered. Every child is assisted through a local church and learns about Jesus.
