Meet Sister Cecila Taphorn
My name is Cecilia Taphorn. I serve at St. Mary Parish in Delaware, Ohio as a Pastoral Associate of a large and growing parish. I have worked in parishes for 40 years, and I have always loved parish life. It’s such a privilege to journey with so many people through both times of joy and suffering. My ministry is quite varied of which I’ll mention a few of the activities with which I am involved. I coordinate ministries to the sick and elderly, assist divorced men and women with annulments, conduct various liturgical services, and serve on the core team of our neighborhood Network. I serve as staff liaison to Rite of Christian Initiation (RCIA), the Moms Organization, and Outreach Ministries. I became acquainted with the Sisters of the Precious Blood in high school where the Precious Blood Sisters were teaching at the time. I couldn’t help but notice that the sisters were very happy. You could tell they loved their vocation. I joined the community because I felt that God was calling me to be a sister. At first I didn’t want to hear the call, but since it kept coming back to me, I couldn’t push it away any longer, and I’m glad I didn’t because I love my vocation as a sister. Everyday for me is a new adventure and no two days are the same. I have always loved variety and parish life gives me this wonderful opportunity to serve people in so many different capacities. I hope that my presence in the lives of so many people provides the healing and life-giving presence they need in their lives. I trust that many more young women will be called to be sisters and hope that they will have the courage to say “yes.” It’s a wonderful life!
