FW Owen [Table of Contents] Our Pastures, They Deserve Better Care The attached document is a Christmas present to Graze-L folks. A few years back (actually 66 years ago) The Farmers Savings Bank in Spencer, Ohio (just a few miles north of Owenlea Farm) distributed this education booklet about pasture management. The contents are as modern as tomorrow and contain concise answers to many of the questions that arise on Graze-L It was passed out to local farmers by Spencer Bank as a public service, but was actually written by Ralph A. Hayne, who was working for International Harvestor. Hayne wrote the material in the 1920's but this booklet bears a copyright date of June 1930. There are 96 excellent pasture photos from the 1920's. This booklet was collected, acted upon and filed away about four generations ago here at Owenlea Farm and has been biding here in a file folder all these years (along with a lot of other very interesting stuff). Incidentially, not much has changed at Spencer Bank. They are still very conservative (see the back cover). Of course, we still do our banking there and we're still very conservative too.
