BEAR FACTS 

There are 8 species of bear, not including their cousins the Pandas & the Koala Bear: (American Black Bear-Polar Bear-Sun Bear-Asian Bear-Brown Bear-Sloth Bear-Spectacled Bear-Giant Panda)

There are 5 types of Brown Bears: Syrian-Himalayan-Blue-Brown-Kodiak(Grizzly). 

There are two types of Pandas: Giant Black & White-Small Ring-Tailed Red Panda. 

Polar Bears & Grizzly's can weigh up to 3/4 ton & Stand up to 11 feet tall. 

 Black Bears can run up to 35 mph and range in color from black, brown, red, and even white. 

 The smallest bear is located in Southern Asia: the Sun Bear, weighing 100lbs & standing only 4 feet tall.

The Asiatic Black Bear is the only species of Bear that hibernates and gives birth in a tree.

Sloth Bears have no front teeth & huge soft lips which they purse and suck up termites.

Cave Bears are now extinct but were larger than the largest Grizzly Bear alive today.

The Spectacled Bear is now an endangered species - one of the rarest bears.

Even though a hibernating bear is easily awakened to defend themselves or to relocate.

At 11 feet tall, the Alaskan Kodiak is the largest land carnivore on Earth.

Most Bears are plant-eaters, but will eat almost anything they can get their paws on.

Bears in the wild live around 25 years, while in captivity they can easily reach 40.

Grizzly bears have been clocked at speeds of up to 50 km per hour.

5 out of 8 species of bears in the world are endangered, including the Asiatic black bear, Asiatic brown bear, spectacled bear, panda and sloth bear.
