Russ Childers Russ Childers
Using story and song, the artist shares memories of his family's Eastern Kentucky farm life. Children learn the trials and joys of Appalachian living over the past two hundred years. Focus is on the positive contributions of Appalachian culture as transferred through the artist's traditional music and storytelling. Appalachian survival depends on learning to use what is at hand and instills creativity and resourcefulness in its citizenry, along with a firm emphasis on family values. Children learn to celebrate their own creativity through singing and rhythm exercises with the performer. Featured instruments are the banjo, fiddle, lap dulcimer, guitar, and various homemade/recycled instruments. Storytelling includes traditional Jack tales, tall tales, and personal anecdotes.

Susan Campton
Susan Campton
CDBaby says: Susan Campton has a voice that is down to earth, clear and rich. Her songs are the songs of Appalachian Roots with a mix of traditional country and a bit of gospel. She was raised all over the US as far west as Missouri, as far south of Texas and up the East Coast, but has always considered the family stomping ground of Southern Ohio Home. The song "Appalachain Home" explains her feelings for the area. Susan says living along the Ohio river gives her the best of both worlds - she really can see Kentucky from her front porch! Her muscial influences are folks like the Carters, Ralph Stanley, Dolly Parton, Emmylou Harris and Linda Ronstadt. Entertainment for the whole family!
