Email replies to THE SENIOR REPORTS – (will add as we receive)

9-11-12Southport from Principal Barb Brouwer

Southport High School is proud to be a member of Conference Indiana.  We intend to stay with the conference and appreciate the camaraderie and competitiveness with this conference.

9-11-12Franklin Central from Principal Kevin Koers

Earlier in the summer, I did receive a letter from Jon Williams from Carmel High School stating they were looking for schools that might be interested in joining the MIC.  We are currently proud members of Conference Indiana and are loyal to our conference.  The letter from Jon did not indicate they were considering a 16 team conference.

As Principal of Franklin Central, I am not interested in the proposed conference.  When a move is proposed of this magnitude, it will destroy other conferences and ultimately leave schools without a conference or forced to do exactly what
Carmel is trying to avoid, travel great distances to games.  As budgets grow tighter and schools are forced to institute Pay to Participate programs such as we have, travel costs become a huge issue.

While the student athletes at Franklin Central are my primary concern, I also have a deep concern for student athletes from all schools.  Forcing schools to loose their conference allegiance will diminish rivalries and, I believe, possibly force schools to eliminate programs.

We are currently a proud member of Conference
Indiana and will continue to be proud members of Conference Indiana.

9-6-12 - Cathedral from Director of Athletics Jim McLinn

We have been sent a letter of inquiry as to our interest in possibly joining the MIC. We replied that we would be interested in discussing the possibility. We are awaiting further contact from the conference officials.

9-6-12 - Zionsville from Principal Tim East

There are a number of discussions that need to occur within the leadership of the HCC (Hoosier Crossroads Conference) before it would be appropriate for us to provide any comment. We respect the other members of our conference and the membership of the MIC and to speak before listening could  possibly damage these important relationships.

Terre Haute North and South

Also we asked Terre Haute North and South to send us a statement on there future with the MIC and the possible expansion.

THE SENIOR REPORTS email question

We are doing some follow-up on a story out of Indiana.  The (Indiana) Metropolitan Interscholastic Conference is going thru some changes and in that process the Terre Haute schools are looking into possible new conference homes.  The Big Twelve has come up in some media sources as a possible destination. We try and verify all information, so we would like to know if there is any fact to this or just based on rumor.

Reply answer from (Illinois) Big 12 Conference President Greg Johnson (Principal at Champaign Centennial High School)

The Big 12 has not had any conversation with schools from the MIC about potentially joining our conference.

CURRENT MEMBERSHIP

We are also asking current MIC members for their thoughts on expansion.
